No Hungry Kids Tucson Project
No Hungry Kids Tucson is a project started to help kids who depend on school breakfast and lunch as their primary meals. When these kids are on school break during the summer, Christmas, and Spring break, they are not guaranteed these meals at home for many reasons such as they are homeless, couch surfing or simply living with a low income family.
No Hungry Kids Tucson provided meals for these children so that they were guaranteed a meal. Food bags contained simple foods such as peanut butter, jelly, bread, cereal, milk, cheese, instant macaroni & cheese, cereal & granola bars, oatmeal and any instant & easy meals that could be prepared while their parents were not home.
This program was started because there should be no reason why any child should go hungry at any time. The program was piloted at Roskruge Magnet School during the summer of 2014. The project fed 50 families (approximately 200-300 kids) beginning June 2nd and run through July 25th (8 weeks). Cost is per child was $10 per week.
We helped over 250 kids during the No Hungry
Kids Project in the summer of 2014!
